Welcome to a program designed for the next generation of leaders.
As a studio gym owner, a boxing fitness trainer, and an educator, I understand the critical importance of providing young boys with the right guidance early in life.
I started Gloves and Guidance to help young Black boys in Cincinnati. This program builds mental toughness, emotional intelligence, and a lasting sense of brotherhood by combining boxing with life skills coaching.
To make sure that each participant gets the attention and guidance they need, we only allow eight boys between the ages of 12 and 16 in each cohort.
The Saturday Blueprint
Our first cohort will meet on Saturdays starting April 4 for 6 weeks. We move through a deliberate progression designed to challenge the body and open the mind.
10:30 AM to 11:15 AM: Boxing Fitness Group Class: We start on the floor. Teaching fundamental boxing techniques and cardiovascular conditioning builds the discipline and focus required for the rest of the day.
11:15 AM to 12:00 PM: Mentoring and Life Skills: We step away from the heavy bags and sit down for real conversations. This is a safe space to explore challenges, unpack social dynamics, and develop leadership skills.
12:00 PM to 12:30 PM: Brotherhood Lunch: We break bread together. A provided community meal gives the young men an unstructured environment to bond, laugh, and build trust with their peers.
The 6-Week Curriculum
Each week tackles a specific theme to help these young men navigate the world with confidence and composure.
Week 1: Establishing Brotherhood and Trust
Week 2: Identity and Emotional Intelligence
Week 3: Conflict Resolution and Composure
Week 4: Everyday Leadership and Navigating Relationships
Week 5: Vision and Goal Setting
Week 6: Legacy and Community Impact
